Youth League Tennis (YLT) was founded by Laura Kassirer, a former Wimbledon competitor, to enable all children to learn and compete against players of similar skill within their own local area. YLT is open to children aged 5 to 14, ranging from beginner to intermediate levels.
Goal
To expand the sport of tennis by encouraging children to actively play the game as soon as possible, introduce families to qualified local tennis instructors, and prepare children for participation in high school tennis programs.
YLT operates eight-week sessions during winter, spring, summer, and fall. We are seeking to hire tennis coaches aged 18 and older to instruct consecutive groups of children throughout our eight-week program. Some positions are available immediately in Torrance:
- Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Sundays, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additional positions may be available across California in Calabasas, Burbank, Glendale, and San Diego.
All coaches are employed on a part-time basis. If the commute exceeds 20 minutes each way, we compensate for travel time by reimbursing $5 for every 30 minutes of driving to a site.
- Assistant Coaches earn $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
- YLT Directors earn $40 per hour (one director per site).
We are looking for dependable, optimistic, personable, engaging, and energetic individuals who wish to help grow the sport of tennis and enjoy working with children. We would love to speak with anyone who has played at a 4.0 level or above. This role is also ideal for coaches or college students seeking part-time work, expanding their professional network, or connecting with more families in their community. We also hire high school juniors and seniors who have experience leading clinics and camps.
We provide: pee-wee tennis nets, tennis balls for each skill level, personalized medals, and progress reports for all participants. Children bring their own rackets.
