We are a 30-year locally owned property management and service company based in Kearny Mesa, seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Part-Time Contract Bookkeeper to join our team. This is an in-office position with days and hours to be determined, supporting our expanding operations.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong bookkeeping skills, prior experience in property management or real estate, and comfort handling payroll and benefits-related tasks. A collaborative attitude and clear, professional communication, both written and verbal, are essential, as you will work closely with our friendly office staff and property management team.
Responsibilities
Full-cycle bookkeeping, including:
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- General ledger entries and month-end close
Property management accounting:
- Rent and fee postings
- Security deposit tracking
- Owner and property-level reporting
Payroll processing using iSolved for approximately 45 employees:
- Prepare and process regular payroll
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records
Benefits-related support:
- Assist with health insurance enrollments, changes, and terminations as needed
- Help coordinate 401(k) contributions and reporting
Prepare financial reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Assist with year-end tasks and coordination with our CPA. Maintain organized, accurate financial records and support internal controls.
Qualifications
- Proven bookkeeping experience, with property management or real estate experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficient with QuickBooks Online and Excel
- Experience with property management or accounting software, such as AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium, or similar is a plus
- Experience processing payroll, with iSolved experience a plus
- Familiarity with health insurance and 401(k) administration
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly demeanor
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively while also handling tasks independently
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a small office environment
- Must be able to work on-site in Kearny Mesa
