Retirement Plan Consulting producers at Gallagher focus on generating new business through client acquisition and expanding market presence. This position demands a proactive sales strategy, with an emphasis on qualified retirement plan business. Achieving success in this role involves developing a strong sales pipeline, securing deals, and identifying additional opportunities through the Financial Business Line, all while cultivating a personal reputation that reflects Gallagher's high-achieving, collaborative, and innovative culture. - Consultative Sales Approach: Act as a consultant for your client portfolio, with account management support to sustain and expand your client base.
Objectives for Success:
- Operate as an entrepreneur, building a client portfolio from your own network, typically within a specific industry niche or employer size.
- Develop and sustain a network of internal and external contacts to generate leads and referrals.
- Establish and maintain a new business pipeline of qualified leads exceeding five times the goal. Weekly, ensure all tracked pipeline information is current and accurately reflects activity and sales stage.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to handle multiple prospects and clients simultaneously. Embrace resilience and persistence to maintain motivation and focus, turning challenges and setbacks into opportunities for growth and success.
- Confidently conduct client discovery, engaging with business owners and key stakeholders to understand their needs and offer tailored solutions.
- Capably advise clients independently and identify opportunities to involve other subject matter experts as needed.
- Schedule regular check-ins with the Client Service team to stay updated on account status and develop strategies for account expansion.
- Take responsibility for scheduling internal client account review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough completion of prescribed processes to retain clients, always thinking creatively about next steps for account growth.
- Include executive sponsors when appropriate.
- Semi-annually or as needed, brief the Regional Sales Leader and Area President or Area EVP on the status of all key accounts.
- Actively embrace and collaborate with the Gallagher Benefit Services organization:
- Within 30 days, identify an internal network of supportive individuals, such as Producer peers, Consultants, and Leaders, for guidance and advice. Schedule informal meetings with these individuals as needed.
- Within 60 days of completing Our Value Proposition training, be able to introduce the concept of Organizational and Financial Wellbeing and apply its value to prospects and clients, with the goal of facilitating introductions to other relevant Gallagher SMEs.
- Within six months, identify a Gallagher Global Broking (GGB P&C) Producer or Producers to partner with, starting by identifying opportunities and providing warm introductions for that Producer among your GBS clients, while requesting reciprocal introductions to GGB clients.
- Identify one or more divisional initiatives of personal interest to participate in within the first 12 months. Measure your personal brand growth within Gallagher by the scope and breadth of projects you engage in.
- Know your competition. Provide information on wins and losses you observe in the market, and always schedule post-presentation reviews involving all Gallagher participants.
- Regularly seek feedback on your performance in client-facing and internal colleague-facing settings.
- At the prospecting, proposal, and account management stages, provide training through partnership with junior team members. Highlight complex client strategy and technical analysis, with emphasis on client value, compliance, and ethical conduct.
- Speak up about succession opportunities that interest you. Provide guidance to leaders aiming to ensure your career progresses in the most rewarding way possible.
About You
Required: Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of related experience, and appropriate licensing required; OR Bachelor’s degree, participation in Gallagher’s Sales Internship Program (GSIP), and appropriate licensing required; OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience.
Licensing: Series 65
Preferred: Professional designation may be preferred.
Behaviors: Act independently with minimal direction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, previous experience, education, pay market or geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business or practice area, supply or demand, and scheduled hours.
