DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT MARKETING, HEALTH CARE AND BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

RPA San Diego functions as a third-party administration, consulting, and strategic management division for collectively bargained benefit plans, pooled purchasing arrangements, and trusts. Our goal is to provide superior, cost-effective, and obtainable healthcare to our members.

Position Summary

The Director of Product Marketing is a leadership role that blends people management with hands-on contribution, tasked with guiding and executing product marketing for designated client healthcare and benefits administration products and offerings. This position fills an existing Director role and is intended for a leader capable of converting strategy into implementation while actively participating alongside the team. This role oversees a cross-functional marketing unit, which includes a Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist and a Copywriter, and is responsible for guaranteeing that product messaging, campaigns, and content are clear, precise, compliant, and consistent with our clients’ mission and brand. A vital element of this position is internal education and synchronization. The Director of Product Marketing ensures that cross-functional teams have a solid grasp of product positioning, value propositions, and intended applications. Through organized education, documentation, and continuous reinforcement, this role helps teams communicate about benefits and offerings in a consistent and confident manner. The Director of Product Marketing specializes in converting intricate healthcare and benefits concepts into compelling, human-focused messaging that facilitates informed decision-making by employers, districts, unions, and members. This role operates within a defined scope of responsibility, working with senior marketing leadership on strategy while managing execution, launches, enablement, and performance enhancement for assigned products and initiatives.

Core Objectives

  • Enhance product marketing execution across our client healthcare and benefits offerings
  • Guarantee consistent, compliant, and audience-appropriate positioning and messaging
  • Improve internal comprehension and adoption of product positioning across teams
  • Guide digital marketing and content execution to support product strategy
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing, cross-functional marketing team
  • Improve marketing effectiveness through insight, measurement, and iteration

Product Positioning, Messaging, and Go-to-Market Efforts

  • Execute product positioning and messaging for assigned healthcare and benefits administration offerings
  • Translate complex healthcare, benefits, and regulatory concepts into clear, human-focused value propositions
  • Lead strategic development and execution of go-to-market plans for products, enhancements, and initiatives
  • Coordinate product launches across digital, content, and external touchpoints
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance across all product-related messaging and storytelling

Internal Education, Enablement, and Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Ensure cross-functional teams clearly understand product positioning, value propositions, and intended use cases
  • Develop and deliver practical internal education, including positioning summaries, frameworks, and reference materials
  • Lead internal walkthroughs and refreshers as products evolve or new initiatives launch
  • Reinforce consistent product messaging with Sales, Client Services, Product, and Marketing teams
  • Identify and address gaps or inconsistencies in how products are described internally

People Leadership and Performance Optimization

  • Lead and develop a small cross-disciplinary team currently consisting of a Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist and a Copywriter
  • Act as a player-coach, contributing directly to messaging, launch execution, and campaign development
  • Guide digital marketing execution to ensure effective deployment across owned, earned, and internal channels
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support aligned execution and decision-making
  • Track and assess marketing performance, using data and feedback to improve effectiveness and ROI
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Six to eight years of product marketing experience, with direct experience in healthcare or benefits administration required
  • Prior people leadership experience, including managing digital marketers and/or writers
  • Demonstrated success guiding product marketing execution through digital and content teams
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Business Development, Client and Member Services, and Marketing teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to internal stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate and improve marketing performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools, such as Project and Basecamp
  • Experience with CRM and collaboration platforms like Salesforce and Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and analytics tools, including Marketo, Pardot, and Google Analytics

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, previous experience, education, pay market or geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business or practice area, supply and demand, and scheduled hours.
