Established in the fall of 2022, LIFTED (Leveraging Inspiring Futures through Educational Degrees) is a program designed to create University of California Bachelor of Arts degree opportunities for incarcerated individuals in California who have already completed Associate of Arts degrees and are eligible to transfer to a UC campus. Under the direction of the UCSB LIFTED Faculty Director, the Program Manager applies professional student services concepts to assist individuals incarcerated at California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR) as they navigate the transfer process to UC Santa Barbara. This position encompasses a broad range of student services duties and responsibilities. The role requires close collaboration with students at California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR) and includes time spent working with students at the facility. Duties involve managing professional and student staff, delivering training sessions for faculty and students, maintaining relationships with the prison, and contributing to central policy development. Responsibilities include overseeing all program processes and procedures, which involve campus and UC policies, as well as rules and regulations from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) that extend beyond the unit. The role requires regular travel to California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR) to work with enrolled students and faculty teaching program courses.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience or training.
  • Clearance from the prison to access the education site within 60 days.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • This is a Career position with an end date. Current funding supports the role from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029; however, the position may continue beyond the initial pilot phase if funding becomes available.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license, maintain a driving record consistent with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
  • UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment.

Days/Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, variable schedule.

Full Salary Range: $25.77 to $43.58 per hour.
Hiring or Budgeted Range: $26.53 to $32.19 per hour.
