Acorn Village is seeking an Assistant Teacher

Work outdoors in the scenic Santa Ynez Valley with children aged 2 to 7. We offer on-the-job training. If you enjoy working with children and spending time outside, we would like to speak with you.

Ideal Candidate (preferred but not required):

• Has training and at least two years of experience in early childhood education
• Knows local plants and animals
• Understands the Waldorf educational approach
• Can play a musical instrument
• Speaks Spanish

Qualifications: The position requires most of the following:

• Some experience working with children aged 2 to 7
• Comfortable being outdoors in any weather
• Comfortable interacting with nature, including holding insects, sitting on the ground, and getting wet or muddy
• Willing to participate in training relevant to forest schools
• Willing to increase knowledge of naturalist and native skills
• Physically able to hike up to two miles daily, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable singing and dancing with groups of children and parents
• Willing to complete CPR and First Aid training and undergo fingerprinting
