Surf Instructor & Beach Staff Positions Available

We are currently seeking Surf Instructors, Assistants, and a Beach Manager for Moonlight Beach in Encinitas.

This is an excellent summer opportunity for college students returning home, high school students on summer break, or anyone looking for seasonal work.

The summer camp schedule runs from June 16 to August 16, Monday through Friday. Surf camp operates from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Instructors are expected to arrive by 8:45 AM (or 8:30 AM) and may leave at 1:15 PM (or 1:30 PM). The pay rate is $17 per hour for 4.5 to 5 hours daily, equating to approximately $80 per day or $400 per week. A 20-to-30-minute paid break and lunch period is included, and all on-the-job training is compensated.

No Prior Experience Required

We provide full training. While we have a wish list of ideal qualifications, we encourage applications from individuals who may not meet every criterion.

Ideal Qualifications (Wish List)

• At least 5 years of surfing experience.
• Minimum age of 18 years (per city regulation).
• Currently enrolled in or graduated from college, or planning to attend college.
• High school diploma.

Training and Expectations

No prior teaching experience is necessary. We have written guidelines and can easily train you in our methods. As long as you are energetic, professional, capable of following directions, and have some surfing background, you will do well. We prefer candidates with 5 or more years of surfing experience, but less is acceptable. Being a second-generation surfer (e.g., your parents surf) is a plus. These are summer camps for children. A paid 30-minute lunch break is provided.

Additional Credentials

If you hold Lifeguard, EMT, or CPR certifications, your chances of being hired will improve.
