We are seeking a highly responsible and physically fit personal assistant in the healthcare field for our cheerful and energetic 25-year-old son, who has severe autism. He communicates minimally and is somewhat independent in daily living activities. This role requires Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training. It is a demanding yet rewarding position, with a minimum commitment of six months.
Schedule and Responsibilities
The hours are weekdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Occasional backup care is also available. This position is for an individualized in-home day program. Duties include meal preparation, medication administration, light housekeeping, laundry, educational activities, and supervision or coaching in daily living skills, with occasional assistance for doctor appointments.
Candidate Requirements
A high level of focus and attention to detail is required. The ideal candidate has a playful but firm nature. Qualifications include a B.A. degree and experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities. ABA skills are a plus, but ongoing training will be provided and required to maintain the client's happiness, cooperation, and safety. The candidate must follow specific instructions and ABA protocols on a daily basis. Applicants must also hold a current license and have fingerprint clearance.
