Compensation

$130,000 - $155,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the conceptual engineering development of capital projects
  • Develops project descriptions, budgets, schedules, and justifications
  • Assists operations with capital budget requests, selection, and approval
  • Creates and submits capital budget requests when necessary
  • Develops requests for proposals, bid documents, specifications, and contracts
  • Evaluates bids for construction, equipment, and services; coordinates the selection of successful bidders
  • Coordinates project permits
  • Orchestrates technical studies, surveys, and site inspections
  • Mentors and manages less senior engineers and project managers
  • Works closely with vendors, equipment suppliers, contractors, engineers, and plant personnel during project planning and execution
  • Oversees all project activities and coordinates project team members
  • Collaborates with purchasing to generate purchase requisitions
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and tracking actual versus budgeted costs
  • Manages project schedules and coordinates project meetings
  • Creates status reports with updates on activities, budget, and schedule
  • Manages construction activities as required
  • Ensures projects are executed safely in accordance with prevailing safety standards, environmental requirements, and CPC requirements
  • Ensures projects meet goals, specifications, quality, budget, schedule, and performance guarantees
  • Provides technical expertise within their engineering discipline

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing industrial or manufacturing projects
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues as they arise
  • Open to travel as required
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and plans
  • Proficient cost estimating and scheduling skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the construction materials industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with SAP business systems

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug and alcohol screening, and background check. Some positions require registration and clearance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. For work performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
