Exact Staff is currently recruiting on behalf of a client. We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who possesses a solid foundation in governmental or public sector accounting. This position presents a valuable opportunity for a finance professional skilled in detailed accounting work, financial reporting, budgeting, and supporting large municipal operations.

Delano, California
Rate: $38.36 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Duration: Temporary 6-month assignment
This role provides a four-day workweek and the chance to contribute to impactful city finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial reports, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and accounting records
• Assist with budget preparation, projections, and expenditure tracking
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor financial transactions
• Prepare reports for regulatory agencies and internal departments
• Support grant accounting, audits, and year-end financial reporting
• Review accounting procedures and recommend process improvements
• Supervise and support accounting and clerical staff as assigned
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is required
• Three to five years of professional accounting experience is required
• Governmental or public agency accounting experience is strongly preferred
• Previous supervisory or lead experience is preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• A valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required

Pay, Schedule, and Assignment Details

• $38.36 per hour
• Monday through Thursday schedule
• 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break
• Temporary 6-month project
• On-site position located in Delano, California
