Overview

The Project Controls Specialist delivers thorough project controls assistance to ensure that capital projects are planned, tracked, and completed according to approved scope, timeline, and budget. This position involves creating and maintaining construction schedules and cost estimates, performing value engineering assessments, and generating forecasts and performance reports for complex facility construction projects.

Salary: $113,388 - $140,868 annually.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a valid California Class C driver license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Five years of experience in construction cost estimating, scheduling, and bid preparation for large-scale construction projects.
  • A bachelor's degree in a field related to engineering may replace two years of the required experience.
  • Familiarity with California labor classification codes and class specifications for bid preparation and cost estimation.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills and advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of scheduling and cost estimating systems, change management, and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency with software including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Sage/Timberline, RSMeans Database, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and PowerBI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and update detailed Critical Path Method (CPM) construction schedules using Primavera software.
  • Review contractor schedule submissions, monitor progress, and assess progress payment requests.
  • Conduct time impact analyses and evaluate claims related to delay, disruption, and acceleration.
  • Create budget and engineering estimates, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
  • Produce clear project status reports and dashboards for management and stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain project controls standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of project controls data within enterprise systems.
