Overview

This senior role provides strategic direction and operational management for the campus-wide financial oversight of extramural funds. Responsibilities include central accounting and post-award financial administration for contracts, grants, and donor contributions, supporting over 1,600 active funds representing roughly one quarter of the university's operating budget. The incumbent ensures adherence to federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies, while also serving as a key leader in enterprise financial system initiatives.


Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Between 7 and 9 years of increasingly responsible accounting or financial management work experience.
  • Between 7 and 9 years of demonstrated success in managing financial operations within complex organizations.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Applicants must hold legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer-sponsored visa support.
  • Occasional travel (approximately 10%) is required for meetings, conferences, or training events.
  • Limited vacation availability during fiscal year-end closing periods.
  • A satisfactory criminal history background check is required.
  • UCSB maintains a Tobacco-Free campus environment.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
