Lead Bartender

Hourly Role with Shared Gratuities

Position Summary

Checker Hall is looking for an experienced Lead Bartender to oversee daily bar operations while actively working alongside the team. This position involves roughly 10 hours per week dedicated to administrative and supervisory tasks. Compensation consists of an hourly rate plus a share of the collective tip pool.

Primary Duties

• Direct, train, and oversee bar staff throughout service periods.
• Establish benchmarks for service, drink consistency, efficiency, and sanitation.
• Manage bar preparation, stock levels, ordering, and expense management.
• Develop and maintain bar protocols, drink recipes, and operational workflows.
• Assist with scheduling, new hire integration, and performance evaluations.
• Complete around 10 hours per week of off-service administrative tasks.
• Work with management on menu planning and overall operations.

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated bartending experience with prior leadership or supervisory roles.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and coaching abilities.
• Capable of juggling direct service duties with administrative responsibilities.
• Thorough understanding of spirits, cocktails, and bar management.
• Dependable, professional, and collaborative attitude.
