Director of HRIS and UCPath Organizational Manager

Overview

This role provides strategic leadership in HR technology and operational oversight for the university's HCM software. It directs the HRIS team, focusing on both functional and technical solutions that drive ongoing improvements across multiple platforms, including UC Path and ServiceNow. The position applies advanced organizational development concepts to address complex and diverse issues, while overseeing workforce administration, data analytics, and strategic initiatives for campus staff.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in HR, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
• 7 to 9 years of HRIS experience in a large-scale, multi-entity environment.
• 4 to 6 years of leadership experience.
• Expert knowledge of PeopleSoft.
• Proficiency in data querying and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of HR processes, payroll, HRIS, data governance, compliance requirements, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of organizational development, effectiveness, and project management principles, including experience leading large-scale initiatives.
• Ability to assess business needs related to process improvement and organizational effectiveness, and translate senior leadership vision into actionable work plans.
• Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and written communication skills.
• A commitment to fairness, respect, inclusiveness, empathy, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Special Conditions of Employment

• Work schedule may require occasional evening and weekend work.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship currently or in the future.
• Satisfactory criminal history background check.
• UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment.
• Days/Hours: M-F 8-5pm.
