HIV-STD Counselor/Medical Assistant

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Location: On-Site
Bilingual (English/Spanish): Yes. A Spanish proficiency assessment will be required before an offer is extended.

This role offers an hourly rate between $26.37 and $29.68. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Role Summary

APLA Health is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate medical care. We are currently looking for an HIV-STD Counselor/Medical Assistant to deliver integrated patient services that blend clinical support with HIV and STD prevention counseling, while also helping clients connect with ongoing medical care.

Qualifications

• A High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program recognized by the California Medical Board.
• Must obtain HIV Test Counselor Certification from Los Angeles County within the first 90 days of employment.
• Familiarity with HIV and STD prevention, transmission methods, and risk reduction counseling techniques.
• Proficiency in performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, and administering injections.
• Ability to safeguard confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential.
• A COVID-19 primary vaccination series and booster, or a valid medical or religious exemption, is required.
