Urgent Request: Foster Homes Needed for Rescued Dogs
We are in immediate need of foster homes for several dogs rescued from high-kill shelters in Los Angeles. Fostering directly saves lives. Without foster caregivers, we cannot retrieve dogs from shelters where their time has run out.
Ace of Hearts covers all expenses including food, supplies, veterinary care, and ongoing support — you only need to provide a secure environment and affection. Even short-term fostering, for just a few days, can be the deciding factor between life and death.
Dogs Currently Requiring Safe Housing
SCOUT – Sociable American Bulldog / German Shepherd / Husky Mix
Scout is a 7-month-old male mix of American Bulldog, German Shepherd, and Husky. He possesses a large personality, a loving nature, and significant potential. He is highly social and genuinely enjoys interacting with people, other dogs, and his favorite toys.
He is still learning how to manage high-stress situations and may display some resource-guarding behaviors, especially in environments such as the vet. With structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement, these behaviors are manageable and continue to improve.
Scout would thrive in a home that provides clear boundaries, routine, and ongoing training. In the right setting, he has all the qualities to become a deeply loyal, affectionate, and well-adjusted companion.
BELLA – Gentle Senior Boxer
Bella is a sweet 10-year-old Boxer mix rescued from Downey Shelter. She is looking for a calm foster home where she can relax and feel secure. She is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and quiet, and she quickly forms a bond with her caregiver.
- Enjoys being near her person and will follow you around the home
- Is calm and low-maintenance
- Sleeps peacefully nearby and loves cozy blankets
- Walks nicely and enjoys short strolls
Due to her age, Bella may have some vision and hearing loss, but this does not stop her from being a loving companion.
She would do best in a quiet home without cats, where she can relax and enjoy her senior years. This sweet girl simply needs someone to offer her a safe place to land.
VITO – Energetic Shepherd Mix
Vito is a friendly and playful German Shepherd mix who loves adventures. He is the perfect dog for someone who enjoys walks, hikes, and outdoor activities.
- Very affectionate with people
- House trained
- Loves playing and exploring
- Gets along with most dogs
He is a happy, active dog who just needs a temporary place to stay while waiting for his forever home. If you enjoy being outdoors, Vito would be an excellent foster companion.
Why Fostering Is Important
When shelters are full, dogs are euthanized simply due to a lack of space.
Fostering:
- Saves dogs from euthanasia
- Helps them decompress from the shelter environment
- Allows us to learn their personality
- Helps them get adopted more quickly
Ace of Hearts covers all expenses — food, medical care, supplies, and support. You provide the home and love.
Foster Requirements
- Must be 21 or older
- Must already have full approval from landlord, roommates, family, etc.
- Must be able to attend adoption events and supply pickups at Petco in West Hollywood every other Saturday
- Must be able to transport the dog to and from vet appointments
- Must commit to at least 4 weeks of fostering
(Short-term fosters are still needed too – even a few days can save a life!)
