Position Summary

Golden State Foods is looking for a practical Security Engineer with a focus on threat detection, incident response, and security engineering. This role is not centered on policy or documentation; it involves building systems, fine-tuning defenses, and addressing threats across both IT and OT environments. The annual base salary for this position ranges from $130,000 to $160,000.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in security or network security is mandatory.
• Strong foundational knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network design.
• Proficiency with firewalls (such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco), VPNs, and remote access solutions.
• Ability to confidently analyze packet captures and network logs.
• Experience collaborating with or supporting SOC teams, along with a robust troubleshooting approach.
• Experience with operational technology or industrial networks (including PLC, SCADA, and manufacturing environments) is required.
• Familiarity with penetration testing or adversary simulation activities.
• Experience with IDS/IPS, NetFlow, or network detection and response tools.
• Scripting or automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• A four-year college degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• A certification in cybersecurity is desirable.
• Prior experience as a cybersecurity engineer or as a client/server/infrastructure engineer.
