Overview
Do you have a talent for working with machinery? Burtch Construction is seeking a qualified Vehicle and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to ensure our fleet operates smoothly. This is a full-time, non-exempt role offering a competitive wage of $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience.
What You Will Be Doing
- Diagnose and Repair: Use calibration devices to identify and fix mechanical issues.
- Maintain: Complete routine hourly and monthly service and maintenance for all vehicles and equipment.
- Field Work: Respond to urgent repair requests and travel to job sites for inspections and fixes.
- Build and Fabricate: Disassemble and reassemble heavy machinery using hoists and hand tools; perform rebuilds and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Compliance: Verify that all equipment meets Federal and State DOT standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic with solid knowledge of diesel engines.
- Valid and clean California drivers license (Class A preferred).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be willing to work after hours when necessary.
Working Conditions
Schedule: Full-time. Physical Demands: Standing, climbing, crawling, and operating heavy machinery. Work Environment: Shop and field-based work across various job sites. Reports directly to the Fleet Superintendent.

Lube Truck Driver (CDL A) – Full-Time
Location: Various Job Sites
Overview
This is a full-time opportunity for a Lube Truck Driver. We provide competitive pay of $25 to $32 per hour plus overtime, depending on experience, along with steady work and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, where applicable.
What You Will Do
- Drive the lube truck to job sites.
- Fuel and service diesel equipment.
- Change oil, filters, and fluids.
- Inspect equipment and report any issues.
- Complete daily inspection logs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and ready truck.
Requirements
- CDL Class A with endorsements for HazMat, Tanker, and Air Brakes.
- At least 2 years of driving experience.
- Clean driving record.
- Mechanical knowledge is preferred.
- Current medical card.
- Must pass drug and alcohol screening.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent climbing, bending, standing, and walking.
- Hands-on, physical work on a daily basis.
- Able to work outdoors in job site conditions.
