About This Services

Service Overview

I offer comprehensive editing, writing, and desktop publishing services tailored to a wide variety of literary and academic projects. My approach emphasizes collaboration and hands-on involvement, working directly with authors to take their manuscripts from initial concept through to the final product.

Credentials and Experience

  • Holder of a Ph.D.
  • Edited more than 100 books for top academic and commercial publishers, including the University of California Press, Stanford University Press, Cornell University Press, Oxford University Press, HarperCollins, and Warner Books.
  • Edited over 120 doctoral dissertations and master's theses.
  • Has edited, rewritten, or ghostwritten numerous creative works for individual clients.
  • Current project: an author-approved stage adaptation of The Clown by Nobel laureate Heinrich Boll, scheduled for publication and production in London.

Services Offered

  • Editing for: novels, nonfiction books, memoirs, screenplays, stage plays, radio plays, TV scripts and concepts, short stories, children's stories, speeches, presentations, dissertations, articles, essays, criticism, reviews, papers, grants, blogs, newsletters, and poetry.
  • Creative writing and coaching: dramatic coaching, collaborative writing, ghostwriting, and interview-based drafting.
  • Desktop publishing: page layout preparation for print-on-demand and e-books.
  • Submission guidance: assistance with submitting work to agents, publishers, or producers.

My Methodology

As an Editor: I typically read your writing aloud to you, either in person or online, offering immediate feedback and copyediting as we proceed. This interactive method enables real-time revisions. While I can edit in a traditional manner, I prefer working directly with live clients.

As a Writer or Co-writer: My methods are customized to fit your needs, including recorded and transcribed interviews, collaborative drafting, rewriting your rough drafts, or outlining together. A two-hour interview can produce approximately 80 pages of raw text.

As a Desktop Publisher: I prepare final page layouts for books I have helped develop, guiding you through the printing or e-book conversion process.
